The Omaha AHEC provides some of the most competitively priced CPR and First Aid training in the region. With American Heart Association certified instructors, we provide trainings to schools, community organizations, medical offices, religious organizations, fitness clubs as well as individuals to meet all of their certification needs. We also certify provide group certifications for employees and volunteers and can come to your location or host your training at our location.

  • Certified Nurses Aide:


The program consists of 88 classroom hours including 8 clinical off site experience hours.  Sessions run 8am to 4:30pm.  Registration is limited to 8 students for each cohort and is available on a first come first served basis.

This program does not receive any transferrable credits.  It is a non-credited, specialized Training Academy.  No credit is granted for previous education, training or experience.  Completion of training information, labs and clinical experience meets  state requirements for training as a Certified Nurses Assistant and prepares the student to pass  the required State exams.

An Omaha AHEC certificate of completion will be presented to students who meet all of the requirements for successful completion of the Certified Nurses Aide Course.  Omaha AHEC will submit the names of CNA graduates to the Department of Health and Human Services for placement on the Nurse Aide Registry upon passing both the Skills Competency Exam and the Nebraska State Written Exam.

(except for 1st session which will be a REQUIRED orientation of the clinical site and last session which will be the clinical rotation)  Clinical location will be announced to registered students directly.

The Omaha AHEC Certified Nurse Aide Course is approved by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and the Nebraska Department of Education & meets all requirements set forth by the State of Nebraska for Nurse Aide training.


  • BLS for Health Care Providers: 
This course certification is a requirement for many health professionals ranging from CNAs and RNs to other health care providers. If you are a medical professional, this course is for you.
  • Heartsaver Adult/Child CPR Training:
Participants learn to reconize and respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies in adults and children.
  • Heartsaver Infant CPR Training:
Participants learn how to prevent, recognize and respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies in infants.
  • First Aid Training:
Participants will learn to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies, sucha as burns, cuts and scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck and back injuries, and heat and cold emergencies.
  • Use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED):
AED training is the perfect course for individuals who want to become an effective user of an automatic external defibrillator in emergencies. This course will teach proper use of the AED and its use in conjunction with CPR.
  • Babysitter's Training:

 This course gives anyone in childcare the knowledge and confidence to care for infants and school-aged children. This course uses video, activities, hands-on skills training and discussion for a complete learning experience.

  • CPR/First Aid for Childcare

During this course certification, participants will learn to recognize and respond to breathing emergencies in infants, children and adults, recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies, such as burns, cuts and scrapes, sudden illness, head, neck and back injuries and heat and cold emergencies.  This training will include the most up to date science on issues that may arise in a childcare setting.  

Additional Topics Available: 

    Bloodborne Pathogens, Control Measures for Communicable Disease and exclusion guidelines in childcare are extensions that can be added to group trainings for additional charge per student. (please call for more information)
