HCI Parent Night Health Careers Institute


You are invited to attend Parent & Family Night and Graduating Student Cord Ceremony!

We will be celebrating our students' success with a year in reveiw, student presentations, and award/acknowledgement ceremony.  

We will be honoring our program graduates with their Honor Cords to proudly wear for their Northwest Gradtiation Ceremony.  Also students who have invested themselves in the Health Careers Institute and qualify and applied for the HCI Certified Nurse Aide Scholarship will present their essays and be awarded with an Omaha AHEC CNA scholarship to be used towards their C.N.A. course this summer. We will also be discussing our summer programs and any upcoming volunteer opportunities for parents and students. (TBA) Community guest speaker will send everyone off with a motivated spirit.

Please join us at Northwest Highschool in the commons/cafeteria space on Wednesday May 6, 2015 from 5:30-7:30pm. Please RSVP to Natasha at 402-502-1207 by May 1 in order for an accurate headcount for meals and refreshments.

NOW OFFERING ONLINE COURSES WITH IN PERSON SKILLS TESTING!

(please note we have scheduled some of our Babysitter Trainings on weekdays that students are scheduled to be out of school according to the Omaha Public /Bellevue Public School Calendars.  If your student is not out of school on that date, please look for a training that is targeted for your students grade level).

The Omaha Area Health Education Center is now accepting applications for the following position/s      

PROGRAM ASSISTANT/FACILITATOR (Part-Time)                                                                                                         

Responsible for Preparing and Co-Facilitating lesson plans and lab activities for after school programming with middle school students.  Youth development/Programming experience preferred.  2 years or more of college or equivalent experience required.  Science & Health Career, Education, Practicum, Students encouraged to apply.


Desired Candidate for this position will play a vital role in motivating and preparing students 5th through 8th grade for academic success through Health Sciences.  High energy, ability to work independently, a positive attitude and a keen interest in the academic focus areas is essential.  The candidate must be detail oriented with strong organizational, communication and basic technical computer skills.  The individual is expected to be a team player and self-starter with strong public speaking skills.  Team building, relationship building, and a collaborative working style are important attributes.  The Program Facilitator will work directly with the Program Coordinator, will be an open and confident professional who is accessible and flexible.

The Health Careers Institute is now registering! HCI is a comprehensive, multi-year program that will expose, educate and prepare dedicated students for a career in the health care field. As an active participant in this program, each HCI graduate will be fully prepared for admission into college and a career in health care.
