Omaha AHEC will provide an official letter of completion of 2.5 hours of participation *Refreshments will be provided Objectives for the participants are: To gain insight into the social determinants of health of clients from diverse communities. To gain insight on the CLAS standards method of improving quality eliminating health disparities and implementing culturally and linguistically appropriate services To explore how these characteristics might impact effective communication in inter-professional collaborative practice. To Understand the application of Partnership Communication to communicating with clients from diverse communities. To Understand how to build effective, appropriate, and responsive communication with clients. Omaha Area Health Education Center in collaboration with the Nebraska AHEC Program Centers across the state continues to expand our program offerings to college and professional level students in health professions studies. A goal of this workshop series is to be of service in the effort to diversify cultural and ethnic representation in healthcare to foster trust and healthy relationships between communities that are currently underserved and the healthcare community. Omaha AHEC offers cultural didactic workshops, community-based experiential training connections & support, job shadowing experiences, connection to community involvement experiences and continuing education offerings to assist in meeting these ends.
